Earth Day is the perfect day to make a banner out of newspapers!
- Time:2 hours
1Project time does not include drying time for the paint.
2Make 36 rolls with the sheets of newspaper. Start at one corner with a pencil and roll the newspaper paper around the pencil up to the opposite corner. Use a touch of hot glue to hold the corner to the newspaper paper to keep it from unrolling. Cut each roll to 12 inch.
3Cut two strips of cardboard from the box that are 2 inch x 18 inch each. Place the two pieces about 6 inch from each other and start gluing the rolls to the cardboard starting at the bottom. Cut off any excess cardboard at top with scissors.
4Cut out a circle that is 9 inch in diameter from the cardboard box. Paint it with Cobalt Blue. Allow to dry and then paint the land areas Green Clover. Allow to dry. Draw a heart onto the Cobalt Blue and Green Clover pieces. Paint the heart Flag Red.
5Stencil EARTH DAY on paper bag in Black. Take the square stencil and dry brush around the edges of the stencil.
6Cut out squares from the paper bag and Mod Podge to the rolled newspapers papers around the earth.
7Paint the dowel Flag Red. Allow to dry and then insert into the top roll and tie the jute around each end and hang.
