Plaid FolkArt Home Décor Chalk DIY Wood Crate Shelf Unit
We're big fans of DIY at A.C. Moore, so we're all for making our own display piece to show off a few of our favorite things. You can quickly and easily add a stylish, distressed look to wood crates, mason jars and other craft surfaces with sandpaper and Plaid FolkArt Home Décor Chalk Paint.
- Time:few hours (+ dry time)
1Prepare Surfaces: Tint or stain the outside of each crate with Walnut Wood Tint. Allow to dry.
2Add Color: Paint inside of a large crate and two small crates English Lavender. Paint the inside of another small crate and another two large crates' insides with Maui Sand. Paint the inside of a small crate Turkish Tile. Paint the inside of the last small crate and large crate Alizarin Crimson. Let each crate dry and apply second coat. Let dry again. Sand each crate lightly. Wash and dry mason jars with soap and paper towels. Paint jars with Metallic Gold and let dry. Sand jars to create distressed look. Paint bottom of two jars with Alizarin Crimson and the bottom of the remaining jar Turkish Tile. Let dry.
3Stack It: Place crates as desired to create storage unit. Then add mason jars to the crate(s) as desired. If you like, use the Quick Grip to adhere the crates together. For best results, connect the crates one at a time before adding on another crate. Tip: After you have connected the crates, separate them for a few seconds to ensure the glue won't drip down the sides of the crate, then re-connect again.
