Wilton Buccaneer Headgear Cake

Project Instructions

    Project time does not include neither the baking nor the cooling times for the cake.

    Bake and cool cake. Trim 1-1/2 inch off bottom edge; trim off crown points at left and right of center point.

    Prepare and cover with 20 oz. Black fondant.

    Roll out remaining White fondant (approximately 4 oz.) 1/8 inch thick. Cut a 26 x 1/2 inch wide strip. Attach around edge of hat using damp brush; trim ends as needed.

    Download and print project template. Use it as a guide for cutting a skull and its features from about 4 oz. of White fondant. Attach skull to hat.

    For bones, cut 2 strips, 3 x 1/4 inch each from approximately 4 oz. of fondant. Attach 1; cut 2nd in half diagonally and attach on sides of 1st bone. Roll 8 balls, 1/4 inch diameter each; attach to bone ends. Use alphabet cutters to cut out name; attach.
