Wilton Yuletide Candle Treat Pop

Project Instructions

    Prepare batter following recipe directions to make the cake rounds. Tint Kelly Green. Bake cake and allow to cool. Cake is one layer, 1 inch high when baked out. Use knife or cake leveler to level 1/2 inch high. Use smallest (1-3/4 inch) round cutter from set to cut four cake rounds for each treat.

    Bake the cakes in the Mini Whoopie Pan, following the instructions for making Treat Pops. Allow to cool.

    Tint decorator icing Kelly Green. Reserve a small amount of White. Push one cake round in bottom of container. Use tip 12 and Kelly Green icing to pipe a swirl of icing from back edge following the curve of the container, then filling the center. Repeat to add layers of cake and icing to top of container. Use spatula and White icing to ice top of treat pop smooth.

    Make candleholder. Roll Yellow fondant into log, 5 inch long x 1/4 inch thick. Use 9 inch fondant roller and Purple rings to lightly extend log to 6 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. Use brush and piping gel to attach log to side of treat pop at bottom edge. Use a 1/2 oz. ball of Yellow fondant to roll into log, 4 inch long. Gently press log on underside of treat pop, and wrapping to cover bottom of container. Use brush and piping gel to attach log to underside of treat pop. For handle, use Yellow fondant to roll into log, 3 inch long x 5/16 inch thick. Press two ends together to form loop. Use brush and piping gel to attach loop to bottom outside of treat pop. Let set 10 minutes.

    For wick, use knife to cut shoestring licorice into a piece that is 1 inch long. For flame, use fondant roller with Purple guide rings to roll out remaining Yellow fondant 1/8 inch thick. Use smallest leaf fondant cut-out to cut flame. Use brush and piping gel to attach flame to wick. Let set 15 minutes. Insert into top of treat pop. For wax drippings, use tip 3 and White icing to pipe drips on side of treat pop.
