Milestone Stepping Stone
Milestones stepping stones kits includes everything you need to create a one of a kind stepping stone, but you can also add your own shells or stones to make it even more special.
- Time:1-1/2 hours
1Although you need to follow the directions provided with the kit for creating the stepping stone, here are a few other tips for you to make the project fool-proof!
2Figure out the lettering first. Write the name on a piece of paper that's the size of the stone to make sure that you have spaced the letters correctly. Also, any glitter that you sprinkle on the stone will have been lost if you keep having to redraw the letters.
3Don't overdo when adding the water, otherwise the lettering will keep filling in with water and the lettering will not be as sharp.
4Instead of the craft stick that is provided, use an old sharpened pencil or non-working pen (thinner is better than thicker); it will be easier to create the "bends" in the letters such as "B, C, D, G, etc.). If using the Craft Stick, create letters in an up and down moving, as if cutting a cake and not like writing with a pencil, as it will deform the letters more.
5Start with the writing followed by glitter and then add the stones all around.
6Other suggestions for items that can be used to decorate a stone are seashells from a vacation, or leaves can be pushed in (when the cement dries, they can be washed out, creating a "fossil" effect) or handprints (follow directions for having petroleum jelly placed on hands first).
7The box also makes for a great storage area for it to dry. This is a perfect Father's Day project, too!
