- Time:1 hour + dry time
Use flat brush and Shimmering Silver to paint outside of box base. Use this same brush to paint box lid and wood plug Lamp (Ebony) Black.
Measure height of box. Measure and cut short width of cardstock to this height. Fold three pieces of cardstock in half lengthwise and tear unevenly along fold. Tear off parallel straight edges of six paper pieces in uneven pattern, leaving top and bottom of cardstock with straight edges. Refer to photo as a guide. Apply even coat of tacky glue to back of cardstock strip. Aligning bottom edge of cardstock with bottom edge of box and smoothing cardstock flat, attach cardstock strip to box. Alternating cardstock patterns, continue to attach paper pieces to box base, folding strips of paper over top rim of box if necessary. Let glue dry.
Apply sealer to wood plug, sides of box lid and box base and let dry. Place lid of box on base. Use pencil to mark placement of 1/2 inch x 8 inch card slot on side of box, approximately 1 inch below lid. Remove lid from base and cut slot out. Measure and cut a square from Black foam core so that there is about an inch hanging over each side of the box. Center and glue over top of lid with glue sticks. Adhere a wood plug to top center of square for cap button.
Make a tassel from the embroidery floss. If you've never made a tassel before, follow the instructions found on this project. Use glue sticks to glue both cords together at fold of tassel; glue fold end of tassel to side of furniture button. Place tassel in position as desired and put small amount of glue underneath to secure in place. Place lid on box.
