Wilton Hats Off to Grads Cupcakes
Cupcakes topped with graduation caps celebrate your graduate. Decorating Wilton's Hats Off to Grads is easy with fondant caps and buttercream iced cupcakes. Consider displaying them on the Cupcakes-N-More Treat Stand for a top-of-the-class presentation.

1Project time does not include neither the time it will take to bake nor cool the cupcakes and cookies. The "prep" time for the fondant grad caps is also not include in the project time.
2Make Grad Caps: 24 hours ahead of the time you intend to serve cupcakes, tint 5 ounce chocolate fondant Black; knead 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex into fondant. Tint 1-1/2 ounce White fondant Yellow, knead 1/8 teaspoon Gum-Tex into fondant. For cap top, use fondant roller with Purple guide rings to roll out Black fondant 1/8 inch thick. Use fondant trimmer to cut into 1-1/2 inch squares. Roll 13 tiny Black fondant balls, flatten slightly and use damp brush to attach to top of fondant squares. For base of cap, divide remaining Black fondant into 13 round portions and shape into 1/2 inch squares. Let tops and bases of caps dry on cornstarch-dusted cake board overnight. Use piping gel to attach cap tops to bases. Roll Yellow fondant into thin logs 1/8 inch thick x 1-1/8 inch long. Use damp brush to attach to caps. For tassel ends, use fondant roller with Purple guide rings and roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cut one piece for each treat, 3/4 inch long x 1/2 inch wide. Use sharp knife to fringe short ends, roll and attach to end of tassel with damp brush.
3Make Cupcakes: Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool following instructions.
4Decorate and Display Cupcakes: Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula to ice top of cupcakes smooth. Position graduation caps on cupcakes. Place cupcakes on stand.
