Project Instructions

  • 1
Work on one line at a time. After the template stencil has been cut out, cut each individual strip of text separately.
  • 2
Add patterns that match the text. For the “Plaid Shirts” line, paint a plaid pattern on top of the letters.
  • 3
Paint banners, leaves, or other elements onto the wood before painting the words on.
  • 4
When stenciling the text on, layer small amounts of paint onto the wood. This prevents the text from bleeding under the stencil.
  • 5
Choose a color palette of 4-5 colors to keep the sign cohesive.
