Plaid Martha Stewart Terra Cotta Pots

Project Instructions

    Project time does not include drying time for the paint. Note: depending on the number of terra cotta pots you are creating, you may need to adjust the amount of supplies needed.

    Marmalade Pot: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely. Mix Marmalade with the glaze effect. Using a large soft bristle brush, apply glaze. Use a dragging brush to create a linen texture on the body of the pot while glaze is still wet.

    Carrot Pot with Couscous Stars: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush and apply a coat of Carrot. Spray adhesive onto stencil and position into place. Paint stencil with Couscous and follow general stenciling instructions using the photograph as reference.

    Tall Stack of Pots (from top to bottom): Pots with Striped Rim: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush to paint a coat Carrot. Mix Couscous with the glazing effect. Using a soft bristle brush, apply glaze to rim of pot. Use a grain striping comb to create stripes using the photograph for reference. Pot with Pollen Rim: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush and apply a coat of Pollen to body of pot. Pot with Sea Lavender Rim: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush and apply a coat of Sea Lavender to body of pot. Dark Carrot Pot: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush and apply a coat of Carrot to body of pot.

    Pollen and Gray Chalkboard Paint Pot: Use a utility brush and give the terra cotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely. Mix Pollen with glaze effect. Using a large soft bristle brush, apply glaze to pot, then use a dragging brush to create a linen texture. Use a large soft bristle brush and paint rim of pot with Gray chalkboard paint.

    Sea Lavender Pot: Use a utility brush and give the terracotta pot a basecoat of Gesso Primer. Let dry completely, then use a utility brush and apply a coat of Sea Lavender to body of pot.
