Project Instructions

  • 1
Preheat oven to 250 °F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. Condition all clay by kneading until it’s soft and smooth. Have an adult help with baking project.
  • 2
    Roll a thick pink log.
  • 3
Roll out a sheet of white and wrap around the pink.
  • 4
Roll out a sheet of green and wrap around the white.
  • 5
Roll the whole log gently to smooth.
  • 6
Use the plastic knife to cut several slices from the log. If the clay is too soft and making it hard to cut slices put the log to the side for a few minutes to “rest”. Letting the log sit a few minutes will allow it to firm back up making it easier to slice. Once you have a few slices cut from the log take each slice and cut it in half so that the watermelon looks like a wedge cut instead of a circle.
  • 7
Bake at the preheated 250 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • 8
Once the watermelons are baked and completely cool, draw little seeds on them with the permanent black marker.
