DecoArt Sewing Storage Jars
Gather up sewing supplies colorfully with the DecoArt Sewing Storage Jars, enhanced with glossy, shiny paint!

1Allow paint to dry between steps. Project time does not include this drying time.
2Wash jars in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry well before painting. Or clean glass surfaces with alcohol and let dry.
3Thread Jar: If you are unable to draw a spool of thread to cut out and use as a stencil, download and print project template. Tape pattern inside jar. Use #12 flat brush to paint thread area Calypso Blue. Use 10/0 liner brush to paint spool rims Tuscan Red. Paint spool top Bright Orange. Use rake brush and White to lightly add highlight on thread. Use rake brush and Black to lightly shade one side on thread. Use liner brush and Black to outline all and add hole on spool top. Use #12 flat brush and Tuscan Red to paint metal ring. Fold quilt batting to form thick layer. Use scissors to cut out circle using jar lid as template. Cut circle of fabric 2 inch larger than lid. Place batting on lid. Position fabric over batting. Fold fabric edges under lid and secure with glue. Position ring over lid forming pincushion. Screw ring onto jar.
4Button Jar: Cut a piece of Snowcap cardstock in half. Draw a 1-1/4 inch circle from one small piece of the cardstock and 3/4 inch circle from another small piece of the cardstock. Use these drawings as your stencil. Position largest stencil on jar. Use cosmetic sponge wedge to tap White into opening. Lift and repeat randomly on jar. Let dry. Use #12 flat brush to paint circles Calypso Blue, Bright Orange, Festive Green and Tuscan Red. Let dry. Center smaller circle stencil on larger circles. Add small amount of Black to paint colors and lightly tap color on one side of each circle to shade. Use liner brush and Black to outline all buttons. Use liner brush and White to highlight buttons. Use #12 flat brush and Calypso Blue to paint lid and ring. Use handle end of paintbrush and Black to create buttonholes on jar and lid buttons.
5Helpful Hint: For added durability and dishwasher safe glasses, let dry/cure for 4 days. Bake in oven at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
