Project Instructions

  • 1
Create Duck Tape fabric measuring 11 inches x 17 inches. Roll out lengths of tape on cutting mat, overlapping. Turn over & place tape over adhesive side & trim.
  • 2
Cut white tape a little longer than 11 inches x 17 inches; cut strips lengthwise to ¾ inches so you have 2 of each.
  • 3
Edge perimeter of fabric with tape, placing sticky side up, centering edge of fabric on tape & folding over. Fold over fabric so there is an approximate 5-¾ inch flap. Put aside.
  • 4
With template provided, cut out 2 shapes from watercolor paper (this is a nice, sturdy paper that will hold up to wear & tear). Cover both sides with white tape & trim to edge of paper.
  • 5
Place one of the sides of clutch inside of edging created in step 3. Cut ½ inch lengths of tape. Starting on inside, attach side wall to purse.
  • 6
For rounded sides of clutch wall, cut in darts to tape. This will allow the tape to round the corners & not buckle. Overlap the tape as needed, keeping it as neat as possible. Repeat process for the outside of the wall, then for the opposite side of the purse.
  • 7
Option: For closure, fashion a button, magnetic closure, or just let clutch fold over with no clasp.
  • 8
For embossed design, cut white tape sheet to size of embossing folder. Run through Cuttlebug. Peel off & place randomly along front flap of clutch. Note: Embossed effect will be subtle because the tape is being peeled off the backing paper.
  • 9
For silver emblem: Cut 3 inch x 3 inch square of Silver Coin tape sheet, remove backing, & place on piece of watercolor paper. Place into Patchwork embossing template, placing over desired design & run through machine to emboss. Due to paper backing, the embossing will be more defined & deep.
  • 10
Cut emboss to desired size. Sample shown is approximately 2 inches x 2-½ inches. Border with ¼ inch wide white tape to frame on center of clutch flap.
