Project Instructions

  • 1
Note: Hay Bales can be a little tough to push into, if it’s easier for you use steel or wired wood picks)
  • 2
Leave plastic wrap on hay bale. This will keep the bale intact so the hay will not shed everywhere!
  • 3
Position scarecrow on the hay bale. For scarecrow on pole, apply hot glue to wooden pole and insert into hay bale. For standing scarecrow apply hot glue to base of standing scarecrow and position on top of bale. Option: Position on either side or centered (as shown in photo) on the bale.
  • 4
Note: If using scarecrow on a pole, you can seat him a little further back or closer to the front edge so his legs hang over. Try different looks with your hay bales for variety.
  • 5
    Glue pumpkin beside the scarecrow.
  • 6
Cut bush apart and arrange around scarecrow and pumpkin. Placement and style will vary depending on how and where scarecrow is positioned on hay bale.
  • 7
Cut 5 feet of ribbon. Wrap around the hay bale overlapping the ends on one side or the back. Secure with greening pins where the ends overlap and on the each side so the ribbon doesn’t slip.
  • 8
Make a 3 yard bow with 6” tails out of the remaining ribbon and position on bale, placing on top with the flowers (as shown here) or on the front of ribbon band.
