Project Instructions

  • 1
Download and print project template. Throughout this project, let paint dry completely before moving on to another paint application in the same space.
  • 2
    Feather Spool:
Step A: Use 3/4” flat brush and desired color from those under supplies to paint entire wooden spool. When paint has dried, trace and transfer "MEOW" pattern from page 1 of template onto spool.
Step B: Use round brush and some of the colors listed under supplies to decorate the spool by painting "“MEOW"”, outer rim and Xs that look like cat food in between each letter.
Step C: Apply hot glue to middle of spool. Wrap yarn around it until it is completely filled, gluing the yarn in place every so often. (Tip: Work in small sections of the spool since glue dries quickly.) Once wrapping is done, cut off end piece.
Step D: Glue feathers in top hole of spool.

    Painted Mouse Toy:
Step A: Wrap jute around paper maché or wooden egg and glue it in place (leave one end loose for a tail). Glue on two buttons for eyes and another button for its nose. Trace and transfer mouse ears pattern from template and cut out from the felt.
Step B: Use 3/4" flat brush and a variety of the paints listed under supplies to apply a basecoat to the cube.
Step C: Trace and transfer the words from the page 2 of the template onto the cube as desired.
Step D: Use round brush and some of the colors listed under supplies to outline the words and patterns from the template. (Tip: Use the tip of the brush's handle to make polka dots.) Then use the liner brush to color in the letters of each word with the paints.
Step E: Glue carpet to top of wooden block. Use drill and appropriate drill bit to drill hole on top. (Tip: It's OK if some of the carpet pulls off.) Use #6 flat brush and a paint color to paint where carpet has lifted. Glue on the mouse’'s ears and add a jingle bell to the chin area.
Step F: Use #6 flat brush to paint dowel in desired color.
Step G: Cut another piece of jute to length you would like. Wrap and tie one end to dowel and glue other end on top of mouse with glue gun. Use glue gun to adhere dowel in hole.
