Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include the time for the dye to dry.
  • 2
Shake dye bottle. Mix 4 tablespoons or 1/4 cup of the Rit Dye color of your choice with hot water in a spray bottle. To test color, spray onto a piece of paper towel. If too light, add more dye. If too dark, add more water. Test color until have desired color results. Line your sink area with a plastic trash bag, put on rubber gloves and spray the basket front, sides and back with the color of your choice. Let dry for a few hours.
  • 3
Repeat for a second or third basket if you'’re dyeing several baskets at once. For variety, use a different color for each basket. We used Royal Blue and Tangerine, but you can use any color you like.
  • 4
Optional: after the baskets are completely dry, you can then spray or paint them with a coat of polyurethane to protect them.
