Project Instructions

  • 1
Turn red shirt inside out. Lay flat on work surface. Cut shirt straight across just under neck collar.
  • 2
Turn red shirt upside down and line up bottom of red shirt to bottom of white shirt. You want the width of the red shirt to match up with the white shirt. Measure a straight line from the outside of the bottom of white shirt to top of the red shirt (see lines). You’ll be cutting the sides of the red shirt, removing some of the edge and the entire sleeves of the red shirt, ending up with two rectangles of red t-shirt fabric.
  • 3
Leaving the red shirt pieces together, flip up the top long edge of the red shirt, run a long string of hot glue on the bottom edge, and lay back down and press. Repeat for other side. Once glue has set, turn right side out. You now have your Gumball Machine base!
  • 4
Tuck White shirt into top of Red Shirt (remember, the Red shirt is upside down, so hem to hem!). Peel back red hem of shirt, run glue along white portion of shirt, press together. When dry, turn over and repeat process.
  • 5
Wrap length of Silver ribbon over seam of Red and White shirts; hot glue in place.
  • 6
Trace turn handle from Gumball machine onto Glitter Foam sheet. Cut out and place above a 6 inch x 8 inch Silver Glitter Foam Rectangle (refer to image for placement). Note: even though Glitter Foam is adhesive backed, it’s best to still Hot Glue in place!).
  • 7
Trace and cut out from Black Foam the gum ball opening and 25 Cents from templates provided. Glue on as shown in photo.
  • 8
For Gum Ball Machine lip, cut out 2 pieces of Glitter Foam. Remove paper backing and stick together; bend into small arch and glue in place (hold in place until glue dries).
  • 9
Glue on pom pom gum ball on lip.
  • 10
Now the fun part! Start by creating a circle of pom poms measuring about 14 inch high and 12 inch across (will vary based on size of shirt). Once circle is in place, begin to fill in, alternating colors of gumballs (Red, Orange, White, Blue, Green Yellow, Purple used)…have fun!
