Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include neither the time to wash and dry shirt nor for the dye to dry.
  • 2
Prewash t-shirt without fabric softener to remove sizing.
  • 3
Place Fashion Form or piece of cardboard inside shirt, waxy side up.
  • 4
Using generous amounts of Resist, draw random hearts on t-shirt starting at the top left shoulder and moving diagonally across to the bottom right side of t-shirt. Let dry overnight.
  • 5
Cover work surface with paper towels.
  • 6
Wearing plastic gloves, add water to dye bottles, filling to line. Replace caps tightly. Shake until dye is dissolved. Pour into spray bottles.
  • 7
Spray Red dye on left side of t-shirt, being careful not to saturate lines of Resist.
  • 8
Spray Fuchsia dye on right side of t-shirt, and again be careful not to saturate the lines of Resist.
  • 9
Wrap t-shirt in plastic tablecloth and let set for 6-8 hours.
  • 10
Wash and rinse dyed t-shirt on the longest cycle to remove Resist and to ensure extra dye is removed. (Be sure to wash t-shirt separately from other clothes for the first few washes.)
