- Time:1 hour
Remove and discard the jump ring from the loop of chain. Cut two 10-inch (25 cm) lengths of chain with wire cutters. Caution: always wear eye protection when using wire cutters.
Open a jump ring. Use it to attach the end of one 10 piece of chain to one end of the swag pendant. Repeat with the other length of chain and the other end of the swag. To open a jump ring, grasp each side of the join, using 2 pairs of flat nose (or chain nose or bent nose) pliers. Twist jump ring ends apart, far enough to string onto components or chain. Do not pull apart, as to make a letter C, but keep the circle perfectly round. To close a jump ring, simply twist jump ring ends back together. Go slightly past where the ends meet, then bring them back even (they usually click into place and you can feel them rub together) for a perfect fit.
Attach a jump ring to each end of the gold finish door latch. Then, use another jump ring on each side to attach the door latch to the 2nd chain link up from the swag pendant. Make sure both the latch and pendant are facing the front!
With another jump ring, attach the mirror pendant to the middle loop of the swag.
Use jump rings and short lengths of chain to attach other components to the swag, including the key that fits the door latch. For the glass bead, string it onto a short length of chain (perhaps 1 (25mm) and attach both ends of the chain to one loop of the swag.
This is a good place to go a little wild! Dont try to make everything symmetrical; just balance the charms visually for a pleasing effect.
Use jump rings to attach the chain ends to the toggle clasp loops. If you wish, place a tiny note or object in the prayer box charm. When you are done making your necklace, remove the protective plastic film from the mirror glass.
