Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include the time for the dye to dry.
  • 2
Lay plastic table cover on the surface you will working on. Put on your rubber or latex gloves.
  • 3
To dye the cotton lace trim, shake dye bottle in Sunshine Orange. Pour 1/4 of the bottle in a disposable bowl with hot water, set aside. Test color by dipping in a scrap of paper towel. If color is too dark, add more water. Too light, add more dye. Then cut lace trim into a 13-inch strip.
  • 4
Place lace ribbon in the liquid dye solution, let set for 5-10 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove the dyed ribbon when desired color is achieved and place onto a foil pan. Let dry. Optional: Speed up drying process using a heat tool, such as a hair dryer.
  • 5
To dye the flip- flop clips: Coat the flip-flop clip with white vinegar, let dry. Use already mixed bowl of dye if enough if leftover or mix a new bowl.
  • 6
Immerse flip flop clip in dye, let set for 1/2 hour or until desired color is achieved. Place on foil or newspaper to dry.
  • 7
To assemble the bracelet: Thread a sewing needle with quilting thread and stitch on the dyed flip flop clip to the middle of the bracelet. Then attach the rhinestone button to the center of the flip flop clip.
  • 8
Optional: Use a wooden flower or pin in place of the flip flop clip, or cut a larger piece of lace and turn into a choker necklace, or apply fabric tac after you stitch on the flower and button for extra durability.
