Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include the time needed for the paint to dry.
  • 2
Use iron to press t-shirt until smooth.
  • 3
Cut piece of freezer paper to cover at least half of t-shirt.
  • 4
Use pencil to draw a thick wavy line horizontally on a piece of freezer paper. This will create the template for across the front of the t-shirt. Repeat a few times until desired amount of lines is achieved.
  • 5
Use craft knife to cut out lines to create template.
  • 6
Iron freezer paper stencil onto front of t-shirt. Insert Fashion Form or piece of cardboard shirt board between layers of t-shirt.
  • 7
Using craft sponge, apply a different color of fabric paint in each wavy line. We used Green, Red, White and Blue, but you can always choose a palette that's more to your liking. Let dry. Apply two more coats, allowing paint to dry after each coat. Remove template.
  • 8
Using steam setting on iron, hold iron about an inch or so above the wavy lines to allow steam to puff up the paint to a suede-like appearance.
