Project Instructions

  • 1
This is a project that came from Steve Spangler Science that many others have reproduced with their own spin. Our spin on this is with the Neon Sharpie markers that GLOW with the use of a Black Light!
  • 2
There are 2 ways that this design can be created; with and without a cup. The sample shown is without using a plastic cup.
  • 3
Place cardboard or shirt form in the shirt to protect the markers and alcohol from seeping to the back of the shirt.
  • 4
Draw a circle and then color in the size of a dime. Use another color and make dots around that circle.
  • 5
Create this pattern in various combinations and colors. Option: use non-neon Sharpie markers mixed/highlighted with the Neon ones.
  • 6
Fill dropper with alcohol and drop in center of each of the dotted patterns. The alcohol will run and pull the colors out creating a tie dye effect.
  • 7
Create a pattern along the neck or diagonal across the shirt as shown (decorate the back of the shirt as well!).
