Project Instructions

    Tips:
•It’'s a good idea to try a test run of stamping on some paper first. Don'’t worry if the stamps don’t come out perfectly, the imperfection is part of the charm. However, if you really want to you can “cheat” by going in while paint is still wet to touch up with a sponge brush.
•Try varying the apple shape as well as color. We used two different shades of Red and Green for interest.
  • 2
Slice a nicely shaped apple cleanly in half with a help of an adult from the stem down.
  • 3
Insert cardboard inside tote to help protect from any fabric paint soaking through.
  • 4
Apply fabric paint with a foam brush to the apple and carefully stamp onto tote in pattern and color combination as desired. Be sure to cover the apple slice evenly.
  • 5
Decorate your tote in one more of the following ways:
Make a Pom Pom: Follow instructions on package of pom pom maker to make one. Or follow the instructions found on this project. You can use different shades of yarn for pom pom. Tie pom pom around tote handle.
Add a Teacher Tag: Download and print project template. Cut 2 apples from felt. With the help of a parent stitch the both sides together at 1/4" from edge. Leave an opening to stuff with Poly-fil. Stitch closed. Add the teacher's name with fabric paint.
Create a Tassel Braid: Cut 10" pieces of yarn, double up on each strand to have a total of 6 strands. Braid together leaving 2 inches of yarn at bottom and make a knot. Stitch to tote.
