Project Instructions

  • 1
Use the craft knife to cut a piece of foam board down to 18 inch x 12 inch.
  • 2
Cut a piece of cotton batting to the same size.
  • 3
Cut a piece of Camel felt that measures 22 inch x 16 inch. (You can always create this project in other sizes. If you do so, cut your foam board and cotton batting to the desired size, then cut a piece of Camel felt that is 2 inches longer than each side of your desired size.)
  • 4
Lay your felt flat on a table, lay the cotton batting centered on top of the felt. Then lay your foam board centered on top of the cotton batting.
  • 5
Without shifting the position of the cotton batting and corkboard, begin folding over the edges of the felt and stapling the felt in place. Start with one staple in the middle of each side, then once the felt is secure in place, begin on one side and work your way around clockwise stapling the felt in place tight with good tension and no baggy areas.
  • 6
Use ribbon to secure felt to the longest distance from the top left hand corner to the bottom right. Then, move up and down in a pre-decided measured amount until all rows are secure. Then, make the cross rows using lengths covering the opposite side until you achieve the crisscross effect.
  • 7
Download and print project template. Cut out template pieces of cherry from felt colors (main fruit, Red and Pink; stem, Ivory; leaf, Neon Lime.
  • 8
Assemble and glue cherry pieces together.
  • 9
Position cherry on the memo board and glue in place.
  • 10
Add photos, notes, magazine tear sheets - anything that inspires you!
  • 11
Tips: to create a neat finish on the back of the memo board, cut a 18 inch x12 inch piece of Camel felt and glue in place on back of memo board to conceal staples and ribbon ends. Instead of a staple gun and staples, you can also use upholstery tacks to pin down into each cross over point
