Project Instructions

  • 1
Place 2 pony beads on a stretch band. For the sample shown, 25 sets (50 beads) were created.
  • 2
Start bracelet with fish tail pattern, by placing first band (with no beads) on the nails in a figure 8, followed two additional bands without beads and not twisted on the nails.
  • 3
With fingers or a crochet hook (fingers work great with this one!) remove the bottom band from the nails so it is resting on the top of the bands that are stretched between the nails. You will likely have to push down the bands on the nails.
  • 4
Start placing the bands with 2 beads onto the nails. Repeat step 3 by removing the new bottom band from nails so that one is also resting on top of the bands stretched between the nails, but make sure the band pulled up goes into the center, between the two beads. As you continue adding the beads, the band that is pulled up will need to go in the middle of 2 rows of beads.
  • 5
Repeat Step 4; the fish tail bracelet will begin to lengthen and “feed” from the bottom of the nails.
  • 6
When you are almost to the desired length, add 2-3 rows of stretch bands without beads on them and then carefully add the clip or jump ring to both sides of the bands that are around the nails (do there will be 4 band loops that will be placed onto clip or jump ring, otherwise it will come apart!).
  • 7
Close bracelet with loop on other end of bracelet.
