Project Instructions

  • 1
Choose color of spike beads and stretch bands for the bracelet.
  • 2
Push bands through the holes of the spike beads, 10-12 of them. Some bands are a little thicker than others, so you may have to try a few different ones until you get them through the hole of the bead.
  • 3
Working with 2 pegs on a loom or the 2-nail jig (see Fish Tail Loom Box instructions), twist the first band into a figure 8, then add two additional bands above the first (only twist the first band).
  • 4
As you would with the fish tail pattern, remove the bottom band from nails so it is resting on the other two bands. Add another band onto the nails on top of the two. Repeat until you have a total of 7 bands removed from the nails (option: the space between the beads will be 5 bands; you can keep it 5 all around, or add on the additional 2 bands as shown here).
  • 5
The key to making a bracelet with beads is to evenly separate them each time with the same amount of loops.
  • 6
Add on band that has the spike bead on it. Remove the bottom band as you normally would with the fish tail pattern; that band will lie on either side of the bead.
  • 7
Work through an additional 5 bands and then add on the second spike bead. Repeat until it is the desired length. After adding on the last spike bead, continue with an additional 5 bands and then add clasp.
