DCWV Butterfly Banner
Decorate a room with butterflies!
- Time:2 hours
1Punch small butterfly shapes from gauze paper until you have enough butterflies to create a banner in your desired size. Fold each butterfly in the center. (If you cannot find a small butterfly punch, draw and cut out a 1 inch x 3-4/ inch butterfly on enough piece(s) of gauze paper until you achieve this same purpose.)
2Punch large butterfly shapes from corrugate paper. Fold in the center and curl the wings back. (If you cannot find a large butterfly punch, draw and cut out a 2 inch x 1-5/8 inch butterfly on enough piece(s) of corrugate paper until you achieve this same purpose.)
3Adhere the small gauze butterflies to the corrugate butterflies. Wrap jute around the center of each butterfly to make the body. Tie a knot for the head. Leave the ends of the jute about 1 inch long to make the antenna.
4Cut large tag shapes (approximately 5 inch x 3 inch) from woven paper. Punch a 1/4 inch hole in the top of each tag.
5Cut rectangles from the cork slightly smaller than the tag shape (approximately 2-3/4 inch x 4-1/8 inch). Round the corners of each rectangle to match the corners of the tags. Adhere the cork rectangles to the tags.
6String the tags onto the jute. Use small clothespins to hold tags in place.
7Adhere the layered butterflies to the center of each tag.
