Caron Simply Soft Beginner Beanie

Oh, Caron Simply Soft, where have you beanie all my life? This classic hat is easy to crochet, and suits heads of all shapes and sizes.

Use a gauge of 13 sc + 14 rows (4") to crochet a beanie that fits 2 to 4 years [17-1/4" circumference], (6 to 8 years [18-1/2" circumference], most women [19-3/4" circumference] and most men [22" circumference]). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
