Project Instructions

  • 1
Use a gauge of 5 groups of 3-dc + 6 rounds (about 4 inch) in pattern using the H hook to crochet a hat that has a finished circumference of about 17 inch and will stretch to fit a range of sizes as well as a scarf that measures approximately 6-1/2 inch x 48 inch. Remember to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size hook; if it takes you more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. Notes: Hat is worked in joined rnds, with RS always facing. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. When you see '- 12 sts' in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row or rnd.

Scarf: Note: To minimize the number of ends, bring up new color through the last 2 loops on hook when possible. Otherwise, fasten off the color just worked then return to opposite end of row and work with the dropped color.
