Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 5 tr clusters + 5 tr cluster rows (about 4 inch) to crochet a hat that has a finished circumference of about 19 inch and will stretch to fit a range of sizes as well as a scarf that measures approximately 7-1/2 inch x 50 inch. Remember to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size hook; if it takes you more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. Special stitch: Cluster - Yo twice, insert hook in indicated st or sp and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, *yo twice, insert hook in same sp and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice; rep from * 3 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Notes: Scarf is worked back in forth in rows. Hat is worked in the rnd. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete the st.
