2Bag Side (make 2) Cast on 42 sts. Work in St st (knit on right side rows, purl on wrong side rows) until Side measures 8 inch from cast-on edge. Bind off. Strap Cast on 98 sts. Work in garter st (knit every row) until Strap measures 4 inch from cast-on edge. Bind off.
3Finishing Sew sides together along both short edges and along the cast on edge. Sew bindoff edge of Strap to cast-on edge of Strap. Sew each end of Strap into assembled bag, centered at the sides, with bottom of Strap ends about 1 inch below top of Bag. Attach Fringe (repeat for both sides) Cut 20, 16 inch lengths of yarn. Holding two lengths together as one, insert crochet hook 1 inch from bind-off edge, from back to front, grab lengths of yarn through center and pull through partway, remove hook from loop, insert hook 1/4 inch above current location of lengths, from front to back, pull center of loop through to front of work, take loose ends and pass through loop being sure to keep ends even, pull taut. Repeat across side, spacing fringe evenly, forming a line of fringe.
