1Use a gauge of 12 sts (4 inch) and 14 rows in sc (4 inch) to crochet a throw that measures approximately 44-1/2 inch x 44-1/2 inch. Save time, check your gauge. If the hooks listed under supplies do not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. Special abbreviation: mm = millimeter Note: To change color work last stitch of row until 2 loops remain on hook, drop color in use, with next color to be used yarn over and draw through 2 loops.
2Throw: With Hot Red and largest hook, ch 121. Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn 120 sc. Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn. Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across changing to White in last sc; turn. Work even in sc, alternating 4 rows White with 4 rows Hot Red for stripe sequence until 40 inch from beginning. Fasten off.
3Finishing: Edging: With right side facing and medium size hook, attach Soft Navy at top right corner and work 1 round sc evenly around, working 3 sc in each corner; join with a slip st to first sc; turn. Work 7 more rounds in sc, turning each round and increasing in corners as before. Fasten off.
4Stars (make 56): Round 1: With smallest hook and White, ch 2; 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with a slip st to first sc. Round 2: [Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook slip st in next sc] 4 times, ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook, slip st in joining slip st of Round 1. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew one star at each corner and 13 stars evenly spaced between corners as shown. Weave in ends.
