1Use a gauge of 20 sts and 26 rows (4 inch) in stocking st to knit a dishcloth that measures approximately 9 inch wide x 8 inch long. Remember to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size needle; if it takes you more stitches and rows, try a larger size needle. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere and pattern. Special abbreviations: MC = Ecru A = Wine B = Country Red C = Tangerine Note: When working from Chart, wind small balls of the colors to be used, one for each separate area of color in the design. When changing colors, wind the 2 colors around each other where they meet, on WS, to avoid a hole.
2With Ecru, cast on 45 sts. Work rows 1 to 50 of Chart, reading RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right. With Wine, cast off knitwise (WS).
3Follow instructions on pattern for the rest of the dishcloth.
