Project Instructions

Use a gauge of 17 sts + 24 rows (4 inch) in St st to knit a sweater that measures about 44 (48, 52, 54, 58, 62, 66) inch in Finished Bust and about 23- 1/2 (24, 24-1/2, 25, 25-1/2, 26) inch in Finished Length. Be sure to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size needle; if it takes you more stitches, try a larger size needle. Pattern and supplies are written for smallest size (Small) with changes for larger sizes (Medium, Large, 1X, 2X and 3X) in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow a pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning. You will need 4 skeins of yarn to make this sweater in sizes S/M; 5 skeins of yarn to make this sweater in sizes L/1X; and 6 skeins of yarn to make this sweater in sizes 2X/3X. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. Special stitches and techniques: kfb (knit in front and back) = Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of the same st – 1 st increased. Sleeve Pattern = Rows 1-5: Beg with RS row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Row 6 (WS): Knit. Rep Rows 1-6 for Sleeve pattern. Body Pattern for Front and Back = Rows 1-7: Beg with RS row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Row 8 (WS): Knit. Rep Rows 1-8 for Body pattern. Notes: Oversized Sweater is worked in one piece from the cuff of one sleeve to the cuff of opposite sleeve then folded in half along neck and one shoulder edge and is sewn closed along side and Sleeve seams. Sweater is worked back and forth in rows. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts. When you see '- 12 sts' in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row.
