1Use a tension of 20 sts and 26 rows (about 4 inch) in stocking st (or 21-1/2 sts and 24 rows in Fair Isle Pat) to knit this cowl that measures about 9-1/2 inch deep by 27 inch around. If the needles listed under supplies do not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required tension. Download template for knitting stitches and abbreviations not explained below and the chart. Special Stitch: M1 = Make 1 stitch by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop. Note: When working from the chart, carry yarn not in use loosely across WS of work. The colors are never to be twisted around one another.
2With Taupe, cast on 136 sts. Join in rnd, placing a marker on first st. 1st rnd: *K2. P2. Rep from * around. Rep last rnd of (K2. P2) ribbing 4 times more.
3Next rnd: [Rib 11. M1] 8 times. Rib to end of rnd. 148 sts. Next rnd: Knit. Next rnd: Work Chart to end of chart, reading rnds from right to left, noting 4-st rep will be worked 37 times. Rep rnds 1 to 10 of Chart 3 times more. Next rnd: With Taupe, [K10. K2tog] 12 times. K4. 136 sts. With Taupe, work 6 rnds in (K2. P2) ribbing. Cast off in ribbing.
