1Use a gauge of 3 rep and 10 rows (4 inch) in Arches patt to crochet a bag that measures approximate 14 inch wide x 16 inch long. Save time, check your gauge. If the hooks and needles listed under supplies do not work, use the size(s) that allows you to obtain the required gauge. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. 2Back and Front (make 2): With larger hook and using Bright Peach, ch 73. Next row: Beg Border st patt on Foundation Row, work in patt to end. Work Border st patt Row 1, three times. Next row: Change to smaller hook and Circus, beg Arches st patt on Row 1, work in patt to end. Cont to work in Arch patt until work meas 17 from cast on edge. Shaping (you will continue to work in Arches st patt throughout shaping): Next row: Sl st in each of the first 4 sts, dc2tog, work in Arches patt to last 6 sts, dc2tog, turn, leaving rem sts unworked. Dec row: Cont in patts as established, dc2tog, work in patt to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Rep last row, 12 more times. Fasten off.
3Hanging Tabs (make 8): With larger hook and using Bright Peach, ch 9. Next row: Beg Border st patt on Foundation Row, work in patt to end. Work Border st patt until Tab measures 3 inch. Fasten off.
4Finishing: Sew Front to Back along sides and shaped bottom. In 4 places along bottom (beginning and ending of shaping on both sides) push the corner formed by shaping into the bag and flatten to form a 2 inch wide tuck perpendicular to seam. Sew across this tuck about 1 inch from corner to create a wider more flat bottom to bag. Sew 4 Hanging Tabs across the Front & 4 Hanging Tabs across the Back using photo as a guide.
5Handles: Option 1 I-cord (shown): With Circus and double point needles (dpn), make 2 60 inch Handles as follows: Cast on 3 sts, * slide sts to opposite end of dpn. Bring the yarn across the WS to the beginning of the row. Knit 3 sts, place needle in left hand; rep from * until i-cord is desired length. Bind off all sts. Option 2 Crochet Chain: With 3 strands of Circus held together and larger hook, chain 2 60 inch Handles. Fasten off. Thread handles through all 8 Hanging Tabs. Sew beg end of each Handle to opposite end (forming 2 long loops). Knot one Handle on each side of the bag. Use holding both Handles on each side for short handles, or hold one Handle on each side for long handles.
