Use Bernat® Bargello Yarns to knit a hat that will keep you warm and cozy as the seasons change.
- Time:1+ hours
1Use 11 sts and 14 rows = 4 inch [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st to create a knit hat that will fit the average woman's head.
2With smaller needles, cast on 60 sts. Work 4 rows in (K2. P2) ribbing.
3Next row: (RS). Knit.
4Next row: Purl.
5Change to larger needles. 1st row: (RS). Knit. 2nd row: Purl. 3rd and 4th rows: As 1st and 2nd rows. 5th row: Purl. 6th row: Knit. 7th and 8th rows: As 5th and 6th rows. Rep these 8 rows for pat until Hat measures approx 7" [18 cm], ending with an 8th row of pat.
6Shape top: 1st row: (RS). *K2tog. K8. Rep from * to end of row. 54 sts. 2nd row: Purl. 3rd row: *K2tog. K7. Rep from * to end of row. 48 sts. 4th row: Purl. 5th row: Purl. 6th row: Knit. 7th and 8th rows: As 5th and 6th rows. 9th row: *K2tog. K6. Rep from * to end of row. 42 sts. 10th row: Purl. 11th row: *K2tog. K5. Rep from * to end of row. 36 sts. 12th row: Purl. 13th to 16th rows: As 5th to 8th rows. 17th row: *K2tog. K4. Rep from * to end of row. 30 sts. 18th row: Purl. 19th row: *K2tog. K3. Rep from * to end of row. 24 sts. Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts, pull tightly. Sew center back seam.
