Use a gauge of 14 sc + 16 row (about 4 inch) to crochet this blanket that measures approximately 30 inch x 42 inch. One square measures about 6 inch x 6 inch. Be sure to check your gauge. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 inch square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if it takes you more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere and the pattern. Notes: Blanket is made from 24 Squares sewed together following the Project Template. Embroidery on Squares 4, 5, 6, and 7 is worked freehand. Follow our suggestions for color and design or embroider whatever you like! If desired, cut shapes from paper, pin paper shape to crocheted square, then embroider around the outside edge of shape. When embroidery is complete, remove pins and paper. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st. Fasten off old color. Proceed with new color.
