Use a gauge of 6 SK and 6 rows (4 inch) in Solomon's Knot St to crochet a vest that measures approximately 29 inch across the chest. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge. Download template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere. Special Stitches: SK - Solomon’s Knot Draw up loop on hook to about 3/8 inch, ch 1, insert hook under left-hand thread of 3 threads below hook, work 1 sc to close the knot. SKL – Solomon’s Knot Elongated Draw up loop on hook to about 5/8 inch, ch 1, insert hook under left-hand thread of 3 threads below hook, work 1 sc to close the knot. Notes: This vest is meant to be worn open. It is fairly stretchy. Make a 3/8 inch line and a 5/8 inch line on a piece of scrap paper and keep it handy while working in the Solomon’s Knot pattern. You can hold up your loops to these lines and measure, ensuring consistency among loops.
