Project Instructions

  • 1
Project time does not include drying time.
  • 2
Lay the 12 inch wreath on a table. Lay the edge of one of the 16 inch wreaths over the edge of the 12 inch wreath. Use the Black marker to outline the edge of the 16 inch wreath onto the 12 inch wreath. Remove the 16 inch wreath.
  • 3
Use the foam cutter or serrated knife to cut out the outlined portion of the 12 inch wreath.
  • 4
Glue the wreath in place at the bottom of the 16 inch wreath. Insert craft sticks between the two wreaths before gluing for a more secure hold.
  • 5
Glue the end of the White yarn to the side of the 16 inch wreath. Wrap the White yarn across the front of the wreath, around the back side of the wreath and back again to where you glued the end. Continue wrapping the White yarn around the wreath 3 or 4 more times having each wrap fan out from the point where you have glued the end. Cut the White yarn and glue the end again where you stop. Glue the end of the White yarn to the side of the wreath. Wrap White yarn across the front of the wreath around the existing wraps of yarn to create the yarn web. Repeat this to add White yarn webs to the 12 inch wreath and the other 16 inch wreath.
  • 6
Cut a 1-2/3 yard piece of White decorative mesh. Gather the end and pin it to the top of the 16 inch wreath. Loosely wrap the White decorative mesh down the left side of the wreath and across the front where the two wreaths meet then down the opposite (right) side of the 12 inch wreath. Pin the White decorative mesh again at the bottom of the 12 inch wreath leaving the left over tail hang from the bottom of the wreath as shown. Repeat with a second 1-2/3 yard piece of White decorative mesh to cover the opposite sides of the wreaths, crisscrossing the mesh at the center where the wreaths meet. Repeat this step using a shorter piece of White decorative mesh to cover the other 16 inch wreath the same way.
  • 7
To create the large spider, use the 8 inch ball and the 5 inch ball. Cut the 8 inch ball and 5 inch ball in half using the longer blade bread knife or saw. Set aside an 8 inch and 5 inch half ball for a future project. Lay the half balls on the table cut side down. Cut a small slice off the side of each half ball. This is where the head will connect to the body. Roll each side of the 8 inch half ball on the table pressing firmly to create the spiders’ oval body shape. Repeat to give an oval shape to the 5 inch half ball head. Glue the head to the body. Insert a craft stick between the two parts before gluing them together for a more secure hold. Repeat this step using a 2 inch half ball for the body and a 1-1/2 inch half ball for the head to create another size spider. Repeat this step to create the smallest size spider using a 1-1/2 inch half ball body and a 1 inch half ball head. Paint all the spiders Black and let dry.
  • 8
Embellish the spiders with a glitter diamond shape on their backs. Paint a Purple diamond shape on the spiders' backs. While the paint is still wet sprinkle with Purple glitter. The paint will secure the glitter in place as it dries.
  • 9
For the large spider, twist two Black chenille stems together to create one leg. Repeat to make eight legs. Insert one end of each leg into the front of the body just back from where the head and body meet. Bend the stems to create the leg joints and glue a jewel to the top of each foot.
  • 10
Glue the eyes in place on the large spider. Cut two, 2 inch lengths of chenille stem, bend them slightly and glue them into the front of the mouth for pinchers.
  • 11
For the smaller spiders, cut a Black chenille stem in half and bend the half stem in half. Glue the folded end of the half chenille stem into the body of the spider; this makes two legs. Repeat to create eight legs for all the spiders. Bend the stems to create the leg joints and glue a jewel to each of the feet.
  • 12
Secure the spiders to the wreaths with glue.
