Project Instructions

1Note that the front of the tree is the side with the small holes showing on the front. The back of the tree has a larger hole to allow the plastic portion of the light to sit, allowing just the bulb to show through to the front of the tree! Begin by painting the wood tree and base Ebony Black to create the look of the witch hat.
-
2Paint wood disc, finial and button Yellow Green.
-
3Glue finial nose to center of disc (face) and glue button to the end of the finial to be a wart on the witch nose.
-
4Using pouncer and Baby Pink paint, create cheeks. Draw on a black mouth using marker.
-
5Glue face centered on front of tree approximately 3 inches up from base.
-
6Brush satin varnish over hat, face and base. When dry, glue on 25mm wiggle eyes.
-
7Cut several 2 inch pieces of tubing. Glue above eyes for bangs.
-
8Cut several 10 inch pieces of tubing. Glue to each side of face for hair.
-
9Remove backing from glitter foam. Attach to plain foam to create a thicker surface. Using template cut out brim.
-
10Insert top of hat through slot in brim. Push brim down to meet hair and glue in place.
-
11Cut a 15 inch length of ribbon. Cut a V in ends.
-
12Glue ribbon brim where it meets hat. Glue bat to ribbon.
-
13Use dimensional paint to draw a spider web near top of hat. Allow to dry.
-
14Glue spider to top of hat. Glue 10 mm wiggle eyes to spider.
-
15Cut a 2 yard piece of mesh. Thread a 12 inch length of cloth-covered wire through one long edge and gather to create ruffles.
-
16Wrap ruffled mesh under face to create collar. Twist wire to secure. Trim off excess.
-
17Insert lights. Tip: When gluing face, ribbon, bat and spider to hat, make sure you leave 20 light holes open for lights.
