Project Instructions

  • 1
With Brown Duck Tape®, tear or cut 6 inch-8 inch strips; cut or tear in half. Wrap balls of STYROFOAM™Brand Foam.
  • 2
Create 24 feathers using Red, White, Orange, & Yellow tape in following sizes: 4 inch, 5 inch, 6 inch
  • 3
(2 of each color were made for sample). Tear off tape 1 inch longer than desired length of feather. Place on work surface, sticky side up. Cut wire to the length of the feather & place lengthwise in center. Cut or tear a matching size of the same color tape & place it over sticky side up tape leaving a ½ inch of sticky tape exposed. With scissors or craft knife on cutting mat, cut out each feather, cutting V notches along feather edges; use photo for reference. Set feathers aside.
  • 4
For Beak: Cut 4 inch length of Orange tape. Lay flat, sticky side up. Fold each short end into the center, leaving ¼ inch exposed section of sticky tape showing. Make cuts to each side of folded over tape, use diagram for where to cut. Invert & place sticky side along the face of the turkey, creating the beak shape.
  • 5
For Gobbler: Trace gobbler onto Red Tape Fabric, leaving a ½ inch of exposed tape.
  • 6
With craft knife or scissors, cut out. Reference photo.
  • 7
For Feet: Cut or tear 6 inch lengths of Orange tape & place sticky side up on work surface.
  • 8
Cut wire & center on tape (same technique as feathers). Cut 2 inch piece of wire & fold into a V shape. Lay over center wire. Place matching length of wire over exposed tape & wire. Press down to show the shape of wire. Cut around the wire to create feet.
  • 9
Stick exposed tab portion of feather to 4 inch ball in fanned pattern, building from small to large feathers. Use extra strips of Brown tape to further stabilize feathers in place. Attach feet to bottom of 4 inch ball using a piece of Brown tape.
  • 10
Attach 3 inch ball to 4 inch ball using dowel, glue if needed.
  • 11
Attach gobbler & beak. Glue on wiggle eyes. TIP: Push down on turkey body to create a flat bottom so turkey with sit without rolling or cut a section of the bottom of the 4 inch ball so it sits.
