Project Instructions

Use a gauge of about Rounds 1 through 4 (about 5-1/2 inch) in pattern to crochet a cowl that measures 11 inch wide by 3 inch circumference. Save time, check your gauge. If the hook or needle listed under supplies does not work, use the size that allows you to obtain the required gauge.
Download the template for abbreviations not explained elsewhere and the Assembly Diagram.
    Special stitches and abbreviations:
dc-cl (3 double crochet cluster) = Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook); [yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook.
picot = (sc, ch 5, sc) in indicated stitch or space.
picot-join = (sc, ch 2, slip st in corresponding picot of neighboring motif, ch 2, sc).
V-st = (dc, ch 2, dc) in indicated stitch or space.
    Notes:
Cowl is made from 12 motifs, arranged into 2 rows of 6 motifs each.
Each motif is worked in joined rounds with right side facing at all times.
Motifs are joined to neighboring motifs using a “join-as-you-go” technique as the last round is worked. Hold the motifs with wrong sides together and stitches matching.
Make and join motifs to neighboring motifs according to Assembly Diagram and instructions.
