Stencil Ease Be Kind Chalkboard
Display your favorite sentiment!
- Time:2 hours
1Project time does not include drying time for the chalk. Note: you may find it helpful to practice your stenciling technique first to make sure you can get the chalk to the consistency you like. This will also ensure your desired sentiment fits with the surface and stencils you chose for this project.
2Start at the baseline of the top line of text and make a level ruler with pencil. This will be your guideline for placement of the base of your letters.
3Lay out the lettering ahead of time by traching the letters with a pencil (use very light pressure). Either use a combination of the stencils listed under supplies or choose a favorite! If you need to adjust the placement, move it and retrace it until it looks the way you want it. Once you've found your placement, go back over the areas with harder pressure so you will know where to stencil each letter with wet chalk.
4Dip your stencil brush into the water and dab off the excess water with the paper towel. Next, apply the brush to the surface of your chalk (choose whatever color you like) until it is wet and pasty.
5Hold your stencil down either by hand or with painters tape and start stenciling with your stencil brush. Pouncing or just about any other technique will work, so long as the chalk isn't too watery. (Tip: when applying the chalk, it will look like the wet brush is erasing the seasoned chalk from the chalkboard but it's not. Let it dry and it will dry to a bright crisp finish.
