Stitch Studio by Nicole Basic Crocodile Stitch Scarf
Crochet a gorgeous scarf in your favorite colors!

1Use a gauge of 12 sc and 15 rows (about a 4 inch square) to crochet a scarf. Save time, check your gauge. If it takes you less stitches to match the gauge, try using a smaller size needle or hook; if it takes you more stitches, try a larger size needle or hook.

2Ch 6 + 3
Ch to desired length (see note above). Work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook. Work 1 dc in the next ch. *Ch 2, skip 2 chains, and dc in the next st. Work 1 dc in the next ch. Repeat from * to end, ending with 1 dc in the last st.
Ch 3, and start working into the first pair of dc sts, *Going around the post of the first dc of the pair as if to work a back post stitch, make 5 dc sts around the post of the st, working down the length of the post towards the foundation chain. Ch 1. Then make 5 dc around the post of the next dc st, working from the foundation chain end towards the top. (First scale made.) Ch 1. Skip the next pair of dc and make the next scale in the 3rd pair of dc sts. Repeat from * to end. Once you have completed your last scale st into the center of your scale.
Ch 3, dc in the same st. *Ch 2, 2 dc in the middle of the next post(crochet through post and over ch stitch). Ch 2, work 2 dc in the top of the next scale. Repeat from * to end.
Repeat Row 2, working scales in the opposite posts. (you will have 1 less scale in this row).
You can switch colors if you want. Repeat Row 3.
