Wilton Candy Confection Cookies
The only way to make a cookie better is to make it look like candy canes and gumdrops! Create adorable, candy shaped cookies this holiday season for all your friends and family.
Prepare your own, snap a few pictures, and share using #ACMooreInspired.
- Time:about an hour
1Make cookies. Make dough, following recipe instructions. Using cookie cutters, cut candy cane, medium circle and bell cookies. Trim the top and bottom from the bell to form the domed gumdrop shape. Bake and cool cookies, following recipe instructions. Note: project time does not include this baking and cooling time.
2Prepare icing. Sift 4 cups confectioners sugar. Then, with electric mixer, blend this sugar, 2 tablespoons Color Flow Mix and 1/4 cup and 1 teaspoon water on low speed for 5 minutes (if using hand mixer, use high speed). Reserve some White icing, then tint portions Red-Red, Violet, Lemon Yellow and Kelly Green. (Tip: Color Flow icing crusts quickly, so keep covered with a damp cloth while using.) Add a few drops of water at a time to thin all the icing colors but White. You will know the icing is thinned "enough" when a small amount of water dropped into the mixture takes ten seconds to disappear.
3Decorate cookies. Cover candy cane and mint disc cookies with White color flow. Decorate immediately, using tip 3 to pipe stripes on candy canes and outline swirls from center of discs. Let set for 2 minutes, and then sprinkle with sugar. If needed, trim edges with spatula. Cover gum drop cookies with tinted icing. Let set 2 minutes, then sprinkle with granulated sugar. Trim edges if needed. Move to a waxed paper-covered surface to dry completely.
Makes about three dozen cookies.
