- Time:about an hour
1Make donuts. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray pan with nonstick cooking spray. In large mixing bowl, sift together 2 cups cake flour, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg and 1 teaspoon salt. Add 3/4 cup buttermilk, 2 lightly beaten eggs and 2 tablespoons melted butter until just combined. Fill each donut cavity until it is about 2/3 full. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until top of the donuts springs back in pan. Let cool for 4 to 5 minutes in pan before removing. Note: project time does not include this baking and cooling time.
2Prepare & decorate with chocolate glaze. Mix 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon corn syrup. Microwave on 50% power until completely melted. Stir in 1 teaspoon hot water until glaze is thick and smooth. (Add another teaspoon water if glaze is too thick.) Place donuts on cooling grid over parchment-covered surface. Immediately pour glaze on donuts. Immediately sprinkle with nonpareils or snowflake mix. Position holly icing decoration.
3Make & decorate with vanilla glaze. Stir together 1 cup confectioners sugar, 1 tablespoon milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until sugar completely dissolved. Add glaze to donuts immediately. Then decorate with nonpareils, snowflake decoration and holly icing decoration as you did in step 2.
Makes about 12 donuts.
