Wilton Cupcakes with a Citrus Twist
An orange slice gives the same cooling, refreshing look to these citrus-themed cupcakes as it does for your summer drinks. Your party and barbecue guests will love them! Just tint fondant with the Wilton Color Right Performance Color System, cut shapes and paint on the details.
- Time:more than a day
1Prepare fondant orange slices 1 day in advance.
Tint fondant Orange:
Bright and Bold Orange (formula 151): 2 oz. fondant + 2 R + 26 O + 18 Y
Next, create one or both of the following shades of Orange:
Dark Orange: Add 1" ball of Bright & Bold Orange to a 2" ball of White fondant.
Light Orange: Add 1/2" ball of Bright & Bold Orange to a 2" ball of White fondant.
Then, take the 9" fondant rolling pin, the Pink guide rings and mat to roll out the shade(s) of fondant 1/16" thick. Use straight side of round cut-out C to cut one shape for each treat. Use knife to cut about 1/8" off edges to make an octagon shape. Mix 1/4 teaspoon White-White icing color with 1/8 teaspoon lemon extract. Use fine-tip brush and mixture to paint six section lines pointing toward center, but not touching. Paint a circle to connect lines at center. Add teardrop shapes for seeds. Let dry overnight.
2Bake and cool cupcakes. Place a baking cup into each one of the muffin pan's cavities. Prepare five cups batter following recipe instructions, then pour it into baking cups. Follow recipe instructions to bake cupcakes, then cool on the grid.
3Decorate cupcakes. Use tip 2A, a disposable decorating bag and icing to pipe a swirl on cupcake tops. Position orange slice.
Makes about 24 cupcakes.
