Wilton Halloween Spider Petit Fours
Uh oh, someone's pet spider got into the box of petit fours. Not really, we just think Halloween is the perfect time to use this elegant technique on petit fours for creating a delicious spider web effect.
Yes, spiders may be creepy and crawly -- but we also think Halloween is also the perfect time for posting pics of projects featuring them. Use: #ACMooreInspired

1To make mini cakes, prepare the batter following recipe directions, bake the cake in the pans, and then cool. Note: project time does not include neither this baking and cooling time nor the drying time in step 2. Use cake leveler to trim the cake to 2" in height, and then use the largest round fondant cut-out to cut out the cake into circles.
2Reserve a small amount of icing for later. Then cover the mini cakes with White icing. Heat the remaining icing in a container at the defrost setting (30% power) for 20 to 30 seconds, and stir. Repeat until the consistency of the icing allows it to be poured. Place the cakes on a cooling grid over parchment paper, and cover the cakes with poured icing. Tap the grid gently to remove air bubbles and let dry for 1 hour.
3To decorate the mini cakes, start by tinting the icing you saved in step 2 Black. Then, use tip 2 and Black icing to pipe spider web designs, spiders, and strings on the cakes. Place the cakes on small serving plates and use tip 3 and Black icing to pipe bead bottom borders.
Makes about 6 mini cakes. Each mini cake serves 1.
