Wilton Hard Apple Cider Tart

It’'s an apple tart with a serious boozy kick! Hard cider glaze and cinnamon sugar should make this treat a crowd pleaser during fall or any other time of the year.

Project Instructions

    Prepare pan. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Prepare 9" tart pan with vegetable spray.

    Make crust. Melt 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter. Stir together this butter, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a bowl. Add 1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour; stir until just combined. Evenly press into the bottom and up the sides of pan. With fork, prick dough all over. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Remove tart from refrigerator; bake 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.

    Make glaze. Add 12 oz. of preferred cider to skillet. Cook over medium heat until liquid has reduced to two tablespoons; about 10-15 minutes. Reduce heat to low; add 3 tablespoons light corn syrup and two tablespoons granulated sugar. Stir continuously until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and cool completely.

    Prepare filling. Combine 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Cut two apples into thin slices. Arrange the slices in tart pan in an overlapping circular pattern, working from outside in. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar.

    Bake tart. Bake on cookie sheet for 55-60 minutes until apples are soft and crust is golden brown. Re-warm glaze over low heat and brush on tart. Cool tart completely in pan on cooling grid. Note: project time does not include the cooking, baking and cooling times included in this recipe.
