Wilton Sparkling New Year's Treats
Resolve to make delicious treats!

1Project time does not include the time needed to bake or cool cookies nor cupcakes.
This project also requires making some of the other components several days in advance of serving time.
Color Flow icing takes at least 8 hours to dry so you will want to start your projects at least one day ahead before serving.
If you are making a large number of these treats, you may need to bake two batches of roll out cookies.
2Sparkling Champagne Cookies:
Make cookies 2 days in advance. Prepare and roll out dough following recipe directions. Use straight edge of A size cut-out to cut one cookie per treat and straight edge of E size cut-out to cut one cookie for every two treats. Use knife to cut 3/4 inch off A cookies and to cut E cookies in half. Bake and cool cookies.
Ice cookies and make bubbles also 2 days in advance. Place cookies on parchment paper. Prepare Color Flow icing according to package directions. Use tip 3, a cut disposable decorating bag and full-strength white icing to outline cookies. Use tips 3 and 5, cut disposable decorating bags and full-strength White icing to pipe three touching dot bubbles at top of A cookie halves. Let set, about 1 hour. Thin remaining white icing according to package directions. Use thinned white icing in cut disposable decorating bag to fill in cookies. Let set overnight.
Assemble cookies one day in advance. Turn cookies icing side down. Use full-strength White icing and a cut disposable decorating bag to attach stick to back of large and small cookies, 1-1/2 inch apart. Let set about 4 to 6 hours.
Decorate cookies also 1 day in advance. Turn cookies icing side up. Use brush and sparkle gel to brush champagne area on cookie. Let set overnight.
Bake and cool roll out cookies, following recipe instructions.
Tint portions of icing Black (reserve some White).
Ice cookies with a basecoat of White.
Use tip 3, a disposable decorating bag and Black icing to add clock features.
Bake and cool cupcakes, following recipe instructions.
Prepare sugar cookies as recipe indicates, using cookie cutters to cut out 1s and 5s.
Follow instructions for color flow icing on the container, tinting the icing Black.
Place cookies on top of cupcakes.
